Web strategies for smart web builders

WEBSITE ADVANTAGES:
If your company is the number one company in your area at (say) "repairing scooters", then in the past you could have got a lot of business from word of mouth, and the odd local add in the local press to keep people aware of your excellent services. However in the modern world the view is that if you cannot present yourself on the web (i.e. with a basic website) then you are hardly likely to be worthy of running a successful business when you can't even get those basic requirements in place (yes, I know, doing a website is nothing to do with repairing scooters). But think of it like this: Businesses that did NOT have a phone number in the days when phone numbers became common, lost out because people would have to go to them to find out if they could do the service they wanted. So if there was another company that DID have a phone number they would have an immediate advantage. Think about it; Today a good website is essential (not just a nice thing to have) in business.

SEARCHABILITY:
Even if you do have a website (in todays world), that is not enough depending on how successful you want to be. The companies that "repair Scooters" well, and give an excellent service can do well from this fact, but it is the companies that do this well, but ALSO are top of the search engine listings that will really excel. Even if they are not as good as the former companies, because they get all the business, they will more than likely have processes in place that give them a distinct advantage because of their SEARCHABILITY!..

So if you're good at something, and you are clear about your target market, then make sure you are as near the top spot as you can be for those parameters. This also brings to mind the thinking behind what it is you do.

Google search parameters:
"What I do", "Geographical Location"  (e.g. Scooters, Luton)  (assuming you are in Luton, Beds UK)
